After spending a few days in Berlin with Uncle Curt and Aunt Hannah we headed to Leipzig to show them the beautiful city that we live in. We enjoyed our time walking around the city and showing them some touristy attractions. To tell you the truth, we were not much of tour guides compared to the impressive tour books they brought with them.
We learned so much about Berlin, Leipzig, and Prague thanks to those handy dandy books. Walking around the city with them just reinforced the fact the Leipzig IS a beautiful city and we are happy to have the opportunity to be here.
We explored many bakeries, churches, coffee shops, stores, etc. We had coffee at the second oldest coffee house in Europe. The building was built in the 1500's. The coffee house opened in the building in the late 1600's. The coffee was average, but the cakes were extraordinary!
Aunt Hannah enjoyed her time exploring the German grocery stores and picking out different gummies and candy to try. She also really enjoyed a particular store in town that makes handmade wooden toys and crafts. We had a great time showing Aunt Hannah and Uncle Curt our farmer's market. It is held every Tuesday and Friday here in the town square.
One of the nights we had a nice German dinner at Auerbach's Keller. This restaurant is a huge tourist attraction as it is the second oldest restaurant in Leipzig. We wanted to take them here because it has an assortment of traditional Saxony cuisine. I have to admit that I definitely had the best meal at the table. I had a beer marinated pork dish over sauerkraut. It was nice to have someone eating with me that was just as obsessed with cabbage and sauerkraut as I am. I think at almost every meal the entire week either Hannah or I or both had some form of cabbage/sauerkraut for dinner. . .YUMMY!!
We want to thank Uncle Curt and Aunt Hannah for using their vacation time to spend with us. We had a wonderful week! The next post we will get to tell everyone about our wonderful time in the Czech Repubic!
