Visit to Prague with Aunt Hannah and Uncle Curt

L Rizzy made it to his fourth country... Czech Republic!

L Dubs, L Riz, and I boarded a train from Leipzig to Prague to sight see and spend some more time with Aunt Hannah and Uncle Curt. The most cost effective way to travel here in Europe is by train. Traveling by train is even better when you get your own compartment. This makes life a lot easier especially when traveling three hours with a 9 month old. The compartment has about 6 seats and it is like a little room that can be closed off by a sliding glass door. Since we had the entire compartment all to ourself we were able to put L Rizzy down and let him crawl around, play, scream, etc. and no one else gets distracted.

We arrived in Prague not knowing exactly where the hotel was. L Dubs insists that he has an internal GPS so I took the back seat and allowed him to navigate through Prague (via foot and dragging luggage) hoping eventually we would end up at the hotel. We had the hotel address but that didn't help considering we couldn't find any street signs. We made our way down a few streets and some how L Dubs navigated us to the Charles Bridge which was 50 meters from our hotel! If you're wondering why I even doubted him to begin with, all I have to say is CHILLICOTHE!!! L Dubs' "internal GPS" screwed us leaving Kev and Shell's house one time. L Dubs blames the malfunction on the booze. Good thing I was driving the entire 2 hours that we were lost!

Anyways, back to Prague...We met Aunt Hannah and Uncle Curt at the hotel. We were the only ones staying at the hotel that weekend. The best part was that our rooms were next to each other so L Rizzy was able to crawl out of our door and go into their door whenever he pleased! Not so good when they were trying to sleep and they could hear L Riz screaming in our room.

Once settled in to our hotel, we went outdoors to do a little sight seeing.  Most of the main attractions are documented in the pictures below so I won't waste too much time going through all of them. Prague is a beautiful city with plenty to see and do. The only down fall is that all the restaurants not only allow smoking, but strongly encourage it. L Dubs was taken to the cleaners by one of the waiters at the restaurant and then was too chicken to confront him. He thought that by not leaving him a tip it would make it all better. That waiter knew a sucker when he saw one! Besides that, the food was amazing! We discovered the best Goulash ever thanks to Aunt Hannah for asking the police officer on the street where he suggested we eat. Little did we know, the restaurant had ball room dancing with a live band in the basement, so we had great music and entertainment as well. Czech beer was just as delicious as the food!

We spent two nights in Prague and then said our good byes to Aunt Hannah and Uncle Curt. We caught the train back to Leipzig and they caught the plane to NYC. We had a great week with them and look forward to taking L Rizzy on his next trip in a couple of weeks!
