Following a great time in London, we rented a car and drove North towards York. On the way we stopped at Cambridge to check out the University there. We were extremely impressed. The buildings were gorgeous and the grounds were impeccable. We really liked watching the boat tours go by as well as walking through the city market. L Rizzy really enjoyed the ice cream. After two hours of walking around we headed back to the car. When we were packing up I folded down the stroller so it could fit in the back seat and at that very moment my foot twisted over the curb and I fell back right onto my backside. Both L Rizzy and L Mama thought this was absolutely hilarious while I, of course, what much more level headed and felt it to be simply humorous. After dusting off my jeans and my pride, we got in the car and headed north again to York.
Once in York we settled into a great Bed and Breakfast- Elliot's Guesthouse. We had dinner at a very English-feeling pub and rested up for a long day of sightseeing. L Rizzy had other plans. He woke up at 1 am and felt that this was his time to shine. He proceeded to remain awake for nearly 3 hours as he alternated between dancing, giggling, yelling, whining, and cat napping in our bed. When he finally did go back to sleep we were all exhausted.
After a great English breakfast, we headed out into the city to see the sights. We enjoyed touring the York Minster (including the room where Edward The Longshanks held makeshift parliament meetings during the fighting with Scotland) and a special part for me was the 27.5 floor stress test of climbing to the top- thankfully no chest pain. We then walked to the center of the city and just walked up and down the streets looking into shops, trying the local fare, and catering to a young boy. We also checked out the York city wall and Clifford's Tower with a nearby merry-go-round ride. After a long day of walking around we made it back to the B&B in time to find a decent stream for the Ohio State Football game. We were happy to see Urban Meyer usher in a new era of offense that does not settle for field goals and looks to put the game away.
Tomorrow we will climb back into the car for the 4 hour drive up to Edinburgh, Scotland and L Rizzy's 10th country!
