About 4 weeks prior to our trip home to Ohio, L Rizzy kept telling L Mama and I that he was routinely catching his Duckies “hugging” and “dancing” in his crib. L Rizzy said at first it was pretty infrequent- but that about 5 weeks ago it became more and more consistent. Never one to trust information from a 7 month old, I had to see this for myself. So, in the dead of night, I slipped into the room and caught the two Duckies in some compromising photographs seen below. Then, all of the sudden, L Rizzy said they had stopped. He did notice, however, that one Ducky had started to become heavier and seemed to be sleeping a lot more. He also notices that the newly heavy Ducky seemed to be eating a lot of strange foods like ice cream and hot dogs. The heavy Ducky also seemed much more irritable and snappy at everyone. I think we all kind of knew what was going on but we refused to believe that our trusted family members would soil the sanctity of our son’s crib. So, with hearts swollen with denial, we cast those thoughts by the wayside and forgot that such honky tonk was occurring under our roof.
Then… we went home to Ohio. Low and behold, within 48 hours of being home, we were visited by the stork (Aunt Thresa) and we had a new addition to our family. The new baby Ducky was quite a handful. He is always chirping and making toilet just about anywhere he wants. Let me tell you… it is really hard to find a diaper that fits a baby Ducky that has no spine. All in all we are quite tired from our travel and late nights of helping Mama Ducky deal with a rambunctious new duckling. But being tired is a small price to pay for such an exciting new addition.
We truly have lots to be thankful for this holiday season.
