Krakow with Uncle Matt and Aunt Jamie

After a 3 1/2 hour ride on an over crowded train from Warsaw, with a very tired and agitated L Rizzy, we ended up in Krakow, Poland. Aunt Jamie booked a driver to pick us up at the train station and drive us to our bed and breakfast. Little did we know, the driver liked to talk more than he liked to watch the road. There was a minor incident (or two) where the driver almost hit a pedestrian (not once, but twice).  Good thing Aunt Jamie was paying attention because BOTH times she screamed for him to stop. If it weren't for her, Krakow's population would have diminished by two that weekend.

We arrived to our B&B late the first night- not stopping L Rizzy from taking a few jumps and rolls on the big, comfortable bed. We went to bed right away and woke up the next morning to a great breakfast. After eating we headed out to do Rick Steves' walking tour of Krakow. The weather was cold and rainy but we didn't let that stop us. We put L Rizzy in his stroller, put the rain cover on him, and began our walk. We photographed many monuments, churches, blondes (thanks to Uncle Matt), and my favorite, FOOD. Our lunch was at a milk bar (bar mlecznythat was suggested in the Rick Steves' book. Milk bars are cheap cafeteria style restaurants that are seen all over Poland. The government subsidizes the food at milk bars which makes it very cheap to have a meal there. The menu was in Polish with English descriptions underneath. The problem was, we now had to go to the counter and try to order the food in Polish. We took the easy way out and wrote our entire order (in Polish) on a napkin, handed it to the lady, sheepishly smiled, and hoped for the best. Our food was typical Polish food. My favorite were the perogies and the borscht soup.

After a five hour walking (and drinking) tour of Krakow we headed back to our room. We had a big day planned for the next day....
