Bright and early this morning we work up in Leipzig ready to begin out 2 week adventure. We caught a train to Berlin, a cab to the airport, a plane to Zurich, a train to and from the airport to the main station, and a tram to our hotel. I wish the traveling was as easy as writing the sentence. Each leg of the trip had follies and complications (such as NO BOOKED TICKET FOR L RIZZY). Nonetheless, we made it with minimal bickering and squabbling. Once checked into the Hotel Adler in Zurich, we ventured out to enjoy the nice weather and gorgeous Old Town. We came upon a restaurant called "Hotel California" complete with a neon sign in the window that said "Schlitz on Tap." We had to stop. However, when I ordered said Schlitz, I was met with a confused look. Schlitz was not on tap. I had been had. So we got some nachos and whatever beer they did have on tap and enjoyed the scenery on the street. Once finished, we made our way down to Lake Zurich. Once here we have a gorgeous view of the lake with boats and all. In the distance, though, was the creme dela creme: the Swiss Alps were in the distance completely snow covered. It was awe-inspiring. Since L Rizzy had only had a 30 minute nap all day, we decided to head back to the hotel for dinner. The hotel restaurant was a really nice fondue joint so we settled in for some traditional Swiss fondue and lamb cubes that we got to cook in hot oil. There were many sauces to use for the lamb as well, including one that tasted quite a bit like Yum-Yum. If you don't know Yum-Yum sauce....
With our bellies full and our feet aching we called it a night. L Rizzy IMMEDIATELY fell asleep upon hitting his cot and we are enjoying the hotel bed that has an actual mattress- it is quite a leap up from our Leipzig "bed." Tomorrow we get to take some amazing train rides and we are meeting up with Uncle Curt and Aunt Hannah in Interlaken. We can't wait!
