Continuing the efforts to pass the last few weeks in Germany, Raj and I set off for Prague, Czech Republic. We were nervous about another 4 hour train ride with L Rizzy and our suspicions were confirmed. While our ride to Prague in January had been on a near empty train, this time around it was standing room only.
Once in Prague we settled into our hotel in the middle of Old Town. We immediately went out in search of beer the sights and toured around Old Town square. We had dinner on the square including amazing goulash and dessert. After a good nights sleep we had the best breakfast ever in the hotel- complete with a smoothie station, made to order eggs and omelets, and the best fruit ever grown. Maybe a little too full, we set out to walk the city of Prague. We tried to get into the Old New Synagage and the Cemetery but unfortunately they were close for repairs. So we crossed the Charles Bridge, walked passed the Lennon Wall, and up to the Castle. We walked down from the hill, along the river to New Town and the Dancing House. We circled back around to the hotel through the Old Town square again and drank some beer rested for a bit. For dinner we had some more traditional Czech food including the best goulash soup ever complete with a soft, warm pretzel. The next morning, after gorging on another amazing huge breakfast at the hotel, we checked out and spent some time at the Old Town square prior to walking to the train station for our ride home. This ride was a busy and packed as the ride down.
Our weather was not quite as nice as we would have liked, but certainly better than 33 degrees and driving rain as it had been in January. Prague was gorgeous nonetheless and also reaffirmed herself as the remarkably affordable city to experience.
