In an effort to keep ourselves busy during these last 2 months in Germany we teamed up with Raj for yet another excursion. This time we returned to Berlin, where we had visited with Uncle Curt and Aunt Hannah in the beginning of January. During our previous time there, the weather was quite miserable with driving rain and near freezing temperatures. We were hoping for a better climate in the middle of July.
Our hopes were not entirely fulfilled. We trained up on Friday and were greeted by drizzling, annoying rain. The next morning, though, the rain became angry and pelted down on us of a nightmare you can't imagine. We toured around the Berlin sights, and by the time we made it to the Berlin Wall remnants, we were abbbbbbsolutely soaked. Thankfully, the rain gave way to intermittent sun, and we were able to dry off somewhat on the rest of the walk. For dinner we ate at the same Vietnamese restaurant that we ate at last time in these parts: Good Morning Vietnam. No joke. And it was incredible.
The next morning we were greeted again by heavy rain. We attempted to leave our luggage at the train station but all of the lockers were taken. Begrudgingly we toted our gear around Berlin some and again a break in the rain gave us a few hours of good sightseeing. We were able to see the Reichstag up close as well as the Brandenburg Gate in the sunlight (first time out of the last 4). We also saw where Michael Jackson held his baby over the balcony. Interesting and creepy at the same time. Through it all, L Rizzy was quite the trooper and dealt with the stroller naps and hotel room very nicely. Our weather wasn't much better this time in Berlin, but we had fun just the same.
