We woke up in Dublin for an early breakfast then I drove like a madman after a few pints to the airport. We dropped off the rental car, checked in, and flew to London without much of a fuss. Once in London we rented another car and headed out from Heathrow towards Windsor. Once in Windsor we had a good early dinner at a nice pub and walked around this quaint little town that is dominate by the Queen's residence. We piled back into the car and drove the last 90 minutes to Bath and checked into our gorgeous hotel there: Apsley House Hotel. This hotel used to be the personal residence of the Duke of Wellington.
After a night of well deserved rest, we had breakfast and headed downtown to check out the Roman Baths. This was one of the highlights of our trip. We loved learning about the history and after seeing the ruins in Pompeii it was amazing to see a bath still in relative working order. The spring there produces 420,000 gallons of water a day at a rock steady temperature of 115 degrees Fahrenheit. Amazing. We really liked downtown Bath too- a great city.
We then drove down an hour or so to Stonehenge. Here we were just starting to see and enjoy the ancient rocks when L Rizzy decided he had had just about enough- and he let us know in not so many screams. We hustled around the majestic site and made a beeline for the car... but not before we could collect a cone of ice cream first.
Next we drove the rest of the way down to Southampton, checked into the hotel, returned the rental car, had dinner and prepared for our big day tomorrow. We will have some internet on the ship but not too much- so we will post when we get home. Seven days from tomorrow we will be coming into port in New York City to begin the next chapter of our lives together. But for now, this chapter will end with seven days of the ocean, the food, the wine, and the British nannies to help with L Rizzy.
