Hodge Podge

L Mama is not thrilled with my increased interest in the blog.  To be honest when I heard the idea of doing the blog I thought it was stupid.  I laughed at it.  I called it names.

But I'm hooked.  I love it.  I love taking pictures specifically for the blog.  I think about new entry ideas.  I think part of it is not knowing who exactly is reading it... part of it is a creative release... and part of it is just something to do.  Whatever the reason, I'm hooked.  Laugh at me.  Call me names.

Since we arrived here there has been construction occurring on the bottom floor of our building and in the empty lot next door.  We come to find out that they are putting in a Netto discount market (like an Aldi's for those who know what Aldi's is) and making the parking lot.  However the parking lot is not merely laying down asphalt... oh no, that'd be way too easy and quiet.  In Leipzig most everything is cobblestone or brick- so the parking lot will be the same.  In order to get the bricks to lay right and fit in the spaces there is a significant amount of heavy machinery required- but the most loud of all is the large gas powered saw that cuts the bricks.  And it is turned on promptly at 7 am (sometimes even on Saturdays).  L Rizzy is not a fan... if he is in direct earshot then the tears start flowing.  I, however, have taken a keen interest in the construction.  It is quite interesting to watch the progress.  On a nightly basis L Rizzy gets a tour of the construction site and we enjoy being outside.  Yesterday we went to a Netto in the town center to check it out- and it was glorious.  Basically once the construction is done, we'll be in discount food and product heaven.

A picture of one of the truant boxes is below- both finally arrived thankfully.  We are happy to have the stuff we wanted here with us (especially our jackets as it is starting to cool off here).

Also a picture of a Leipzig Stein that I purchased so that the German beer may be enjoyed as it was meant to be enjoyed- quickly and with a metal lid slamming down on your nose.

L Rizzy is sitting much better now- and prefers this to laying down.  He picks up his toys and slams them.  Rinses.  Repeats.  He has also become a fan of kicking his feet up in the air when on his back and slamming his heels on the ground.  Dunno why he feels this is necessary... but he sure love to do it in the bath tub as well.  A video is below.  The other video is pretty self explanatory.  L Rizzy is very dramatic.

Some of my earliest memories are being stuck by the side of the road with my father and some combination of my brothers and sister because his prized car, Peugeot, had broken down. Again.  They are everywhere here in Germany although I can't imagine they are still as unreliable as that complete heap was.  Kudos to my mother for nixing that little ditty (also nixing my fathers OTHER favorite break down mobile... the brown VW van).
